Just for starters:

It was reportedly illegal (and sinful) in Texas in the early years to play cards on trains and in public places.

The 42 game was 'invented' in Texas in the 1800s so dominos could be used to play card-like games.

The original 42 game allowed a trump domino to be played at anytime, regardless of what was led.

42 got its name from the number of obtainable points: 35 in count-dominos plus 7 tricks worth one point each.

There are eight different optional trump suits in the game of 42: blanks through sixes, and doubles.

There are more than a million different seven domino combinations you can draw from a pool of 28 dominos.

The first drawer has slightly less than one chance in a million of drawing all seven dominos in the same suit.

78% of polled players play variations that reportedly were not part of the original game.

Just wanted to drop by and say hi. It is nice knowing that other people share similar interests. I have recently started my own blog on Blogger about dominoes. I intend to concentrate mostly on the game of 42, but also plan to comment and write on Moon and Straight dominoes. Give me a visit on my blog.

I'm brand new to 42. I played my first game a couple weeks bag, and did win, though I didn't really know what I was doing.

I'm trying frantically to learn as much as I can, so I'll be ready for our next gaming session. ;-)
